Cope-com, the original developers of the Commodore Amiga and Sega Mega Drive classic Battle Squadron have been working hard to update their 90s shmup for the Apple devices. To start the new year, they have released more footage of the game running on the iPad.
Originally released in 1990, Battle Squadron was a sequel to the critically acclaimed Hybris, both deserving of the title 'most impressive shoot 'em up to ever grace the Commodore Amiga'. Despite creating these two fantastic games, Cope-com never released another shooter. Aviators, a sequel to Battle Squadron was in development but was sadly never finished.
20 years after the original release, Cope-Com have stated that their remake of Battle Squadron is going to hit the App Store 'very soon'. Our prediction is the game is currently awaiting approval from the App Store and we can expect to see it any day now.
While we await the games arrival, let's take a look at the latest video released by the developers showing Battle Squadron in action on the Apple iPad.
