Atari ST Classic 'Xenon 2 Megablast' Now Available For Atari Jaguar

Some time ago we reported that several Atari ST classics had been ported to Atari's final system, the Jaguar. Well, you can now add another name to that list as The Bitmap Brothers' critically acclaimed vertical shooter Xenon 2 Megablast makes the leap onto the 64-bit console.

Once again coming from Atari Age forum member CyranoJ, this port of Xenon 2 Megablast differs slightly in that it will come on a specially manufactured Jaguar cartridge, fully boxed with a manual and an A3 poster to celebrate the release. For those who are unfamiliar with the game, Xenon 2 Megablast hit the Atari ST and Amiga formats in 1989 and wowed gamers with its brilliant visuals and outstanding soundtrack. The game was later ported to pretty much every other home system and generally received high praise across the board. This Jaguar re-release doesn't include the original soundtrack, but instead comes with a totally original score composed by video game musician 505; and the whole project has the blessing of The Bitmap Brothers founder Mike Montgomery.

Xenon 2 Megablast for Atari Jaguar is available for pre-order now at the Atari Age forum, and it retails for £55 plus postage. An interesting side note to this re-release is that the creators are also creating an extra-special edition of the game with a clear cartridge and auctioning it for charity.
