Atari ST 'Oids' Unofficially Ported To Commodore Amiga

Oids-Ported-to-AmigaOver the last few years a rather talented programmer has been dipping into the Atari ST's back catalogue, only to then port the system's exclusive titles over to a rival platform. As a result of this, the latest title to hit the Commodore Amiga is the intergalactic adventure Oids.

If you're only just tuning in to the news that ST classics are arriving on a Commodore computer, French programmer Meynaf of the English Amiga Boards has also adapted Solomon's Key, International Karate and Metro Cross to the Amiga.

This Amiga port of Oids is near identical to the Atari ST original and can now be downloaded from Meynaf's website, along with his previous efforts. The game itself is an interesting mix of the arcade classic Asteroids and Lunar Lander, well worth a look if you happen to own either an ST or Amiga.

The only downside to this recent adaptation is that the download for Oids comes in a LZX format. Prior knowledge of the Amiga and running software not on floppy disks will be required - further help will no doubt be available on the English Amiga Board's thread on Oids.

My favourite game for the Atari ST - loved it back in the day and my own personal copy is so treasured, it gets a place in one of the glass cabinets in my man cave
