ASM Retro Announce Altane Game Boy Cartridge Writer & Reader and FIGHTERCART 2MBit Flash Cart

ASM-Retro-Announce-Altane-Game-Boy-Cart-ReaderIf you're finding the wait for Krikzz's upcoming Nintendo Game Boy flash cartridge too much to take, there is another alternative fast approaching. ASM Retro have not only produced a rewritable 2MBit cartridge, but are also working an adapter which is compatible with many of the outdated GB flash cartridges of yesteryear.

The Altane Game Boy Cartridge Writer & Reader has been designed with pocket chiptune artists in mind. ASM Retro's device is intended to allow musicians easy access to the SRAM to backup their compositions, whilst also providing an easy way to write new software to the likes of the Bung Doctor GB 64M and EMS Smart Card cartridges too.

Bleeps and bloops aside, there is plenty on offer for gamers here too. The accompanying FIGHTERCART is a 2MBit flash cartridge due to be bundled with the Altane, gifting gamers a much more user-friendly alternative to enjoying ROMs on the original hardware.

Furthermore, the aforementioned SRAM backing up functionality will mean that Pokemon trainers can archive their efforts before battery rot hits, aspiring Game Boy Camera photographers can download their snaps, and of course every other save game in existence on original cartridges can be immortalised.

No price has been set for the Altane and FIGHTERCART bundle as of yet, however, ASM Retro are hoping to release both devices before summer arrives.

Might have to pick this up in addition to the Everdrive GB.

The EverDrive GB will most likely have the ability to back game saves up to the SD card, making this unnecessary for that device.

This is going to be great for making rare cart replicas like Trip World!! (my favorite game that I don't really own. Refuse to pay up the arse for a copy). Party time baby! 3-)
