At their Archie Action Hour panel at the New York Comic Con, Archie Comics made one amazing announcement; they will be bringing together Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man for a months-long, title-spanning crossover event in 2013.
Ensuring fans that the crossover was not just for sceptical, writer Ian Flynn, who works on both the Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Universe titles, said that the plan was to make the story epic.
"So it's gonna be a 12-part story," Flynn said, "and we are gonna cram in as many Sonic and Mega Man characters as we can. It's gonna be fun, it's gonna be huge, and it's gonna have a couple of blue guys in it." "
"Starting in Mega Man #24, worlds collide this spring!" Executive Director of Editorial Paul Kaminski stated. "Eggman and Wily together are the greatest thing ever."
"There will be a lot of changes after the crossover," Flynn added
Bringing two well know video game characters together isn't exactly a new thing, but bringing two retro game characters as famous as Sonic and Mega Man together in the one comic just might be. With both Sonic series and Mega Man being three of the most successful all-ages comics on shelves right now, and selling consistently well around the world both in comic stores and on digital comics services such as Comixology, this crossover is sure to be something comics, gaming and Sonic and Mega Man fans will want to check out!
