Scroll: An American version of Retro Gamer?

scrollIt's always nice when a new magazine comes along, that we can all potentially get behind and follow and stuff. Here's another one on the horizon.

Whilst we here at the RetroCollect Plaza haven't gotten around to reading it yet (although I'm not speaking for ALL of us), I can certainly spout how good it looks. The name of the magazine is Scroll: The Journal of Video Game Appreciation, with the first issue seemingly celebrating twenty years of the SNES in the United States. It has a nice enough cover for a first issue as well.

With other intriguingly-titled articles such as The Island of Misfit Hardware and In Defense of Hydlide, this seems it could be worth the asking price of $5 for a PDF or $10 for a printed magazine. Go to their website for more information.

I'm always weary of US game publication - I've never seen a good one yet. As I'm in Australia PAL what I'm interested in. If I find a copy cheap in the local newsagent I might give it a whirl.

True, I always flinch a little when I see anyone calling Sega's thingy a "Genesis" or pronouncing the NES as "En Ee Es" rather than "Nez" - but I'm always happy to give something new a try.
