Amstrad CPC 464 DDI-1 Clone Brings Modern Disk Drives & More To The Classic Microcomputer

Amstrad-CPC-DDI-1-Clone-HardwareAs technology has progressed, we've long since waved goodbye to video games on cassette tapes - and their unbearable load times. With this in mind, anyone returning to the Amstrad CPC in 2014 will be pleased to know that a newly created add-on device known as the DDI-1 Clone can open up the classic microcomputer to more modern alternatives to booting games.

If anything the Amstrad DDI-1 clone is exactly as it sounds, a clone of the original disk drive released for the system many years ago. Instead of coming with its own disk drive though the Amstrad DDI-1 clone features a standard 34 pin floppy connector, allowing you to either attach a compatible disk drive or device such as the HxC2001 (a floppy disk emulator that can load games into memory).

Furthermore, fans of the Amstrad CPC will be over the moon to hear that even more features are packed into this add-on. Also on the board sits a second ROM containing Parados 1.1, a reset button (something missing from the CPC) and an ABBA switch (to switch between drives).

Those interesting in upgrading their systems with this fantastic kit will need to set aside £70. The device is currently shipping from France via the independent auction site, SellMyRetro.
