Where Atari 2600 rarities are concerned, Air Raid easily tops the list. With less than a handful in owned by collectors, the price for this obscure title is beginning to rival the likes of the NTSC Stadium Events on the Nintendo NES. If that wasn't enough to interest you, it gets much more interesting...
The box for Air Raid has never been seen before. There are no scans, pictures, nothing of this box. However, this seller has just found what could be the only box known to exist currently. While the box isn't included in the auction (yet), his thread over at AtariAge suggests it will be included in the auction soon.
Unlike Stadium Events, where quite a few boxes exist, this (currently) unique Air Raid box could historically drive the ending price way beyond figures any other game has seen before.
Although we are slightly alarmed how close this announcement is to April Fools Day. More as we know it.
