Coin-Op Classic 'R-Type Deluxe' In Development For Atari STe

R-Type-Deluxe-In-Development-For-Atari-STeAs we all know too well, R-Type is one of the greatest scrolling shooters to ever grace the arcades. Since its release the game has arrived on a whole host of different systems, however, few of these ports have managed to replicate the coin-op chaos perfectly. One that comes to mind is the Atari ST version - one suffering from jerky animation and a much smaller playing field. Knowing its flaws, one Atari ST developer has decided to make amends and has begun work on R-Type Deluxe for the home computer.

Unlike the first Atari ST offering, this all new take on the classic addresses the many issues found in the original port and provides action more akin to the coin-op. Featuring much more vibrant and accurate colours in a much smoother framerate, this upcoming release is without a doubt the title ST owners were longing for back in the day - something which Amiga gamers had already been enjoying.

This all new port for the Atari STe is aiming for release later this year at the Atari ST convention, STNICCC 2015. In the meantime, several screenshots of the game in action along with a sneak peek video have surfaced online showcasing what will soon be on offer.
