Ace Attorney 5 Announced, Movie Rumored to Receive International Release.

aceattorney5No need to object to this news, as the Ace Attorney series is finally getting it's fifth game release, according to a recent press release from Capcom. Hold it! That's not all! There's more Ace Attorney news.

While Ace Attorney 5 has been announced, no details have been released about when it will release, what system it will be for, or if it will star a whole new set of characters or not. Numerous fans clamored to see Phoenix Wright back in the courtroom, and they may have their chance soon.

The previous game (not counting the side-story game featuring Miles Edgeworth,) was completed with a completely different cast, with major changes happening to everyone who was in the first three titles. The series has been out for 10 years, and with that in mind, Capcom decided to bring a mobile version of the first game (in HD as well,) to the Apple iPhone. No word yet on whether or not traditional handhelds will receive this or not, but there's a very good chance that they will. It's also an important thing to note that the series' fifth installment may not release on a handheld.

Despite being released primarily on Nintendo consoles/handhelds (The series started on the Game Boy Advance, quickly being ported to the Nintendo DS, where it found fame in international waters,) the series could make a permanent jump to the iPhone. However, this seems rather unlikely that it'd be an exclusive.

On top of this, there is an Ace Attorney movie in the works that seems to be based on the first game, and all it's cases. While the movie features Japanese cast, it is sponsored by Capcom Japan, and is seeking a release date of 2012. There are also plans to bring the movie to American and European shores, with a possible dub or sub added to it. This will help the bootleggers/importers spend more money to see it. Most likely, the title would bomb and would probably have a low run in theatres, but no word has been announced if it'd go straight to DVD anytime soon.
