Featuring legendary video game composer, Chris Huelsbeck of Turrican fame, this is one shmup you don't want to miss.

In 1997 a direct port of Data East's1988 arcade game Chelnov (also known as Atomic Runner) was in development for the Sega Saturn. The game was later demonstrated at the Tokyo Game Show but eventually cancelled for unknown reasons. A team of Sega Saturn fanatics have managed to locate a Chelnov prototype which has now been shared online.

After a long period of silence from publisher Nicalis, the anticipated WiiWare port of La Mulana has finally been canned for release in Europe and North America.

English speaking fans of the animated film Akira were hard done by where video games are concerned. The only adaptations made available included a rather tragic Commodore Amiga game and a pinball game on the PlayStation 2 known as Akira Psycho Ball. The Nintendo Famicom, however, got a visual novel adventure game- which has just been translated.

After a fairly slow week for retro gaming news, SMSPower have managed to feed our pixel addiction by releasing another unreleased 8-bit Sega title online. Crazy Faces, a cancelled sliding puzzle game for the Sega Game Gear featuring plenty of familiar faces, has been preserved and made available to download.

If you haven't already placed a pre-order for Gradual Games' upcoming Nintendo NES homebrew, Nomolos: Storming The Catsle, you're in luck. The developer has released a demo ROM of the Castlevania-Come-Mega-Man adventure online, to further encourage retro gamers into yet another physical cartridge homebrew release.

It's a sad day for Sonic fans. Recently, the lead of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 HD remake, Vincent, remarked on the game's Facebook page that the game has been officially discontinued.
