
Long-time fans of Sega's outstanding Yakuza franchise have waited a long time to see the original PlayStation 2 titles recieve a well deserved HD makeover. Now you need wait no longer - as Sega has announced a shiny-new HD collection coming to WiiU.

Having reached their 30th year in the video game publishing world, System 3 have decided to celebrate in style by ressurecting one of their classics. The Super Nintendo's very own Putty Squad is set for a revival on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U, Steam, Mac, Windows 8, iOS and Android, later this year.

Despite offering non-stop carnage and a adrenaline fuelled asphalt action, the classic Road Rash series has remained parked in the garage for well over a decade now. Indie developers DarkSeas Games, however, have sparked the ignition and revived the series spiritually with Road Redemption - now successfully funded via Kickstarter.

Having already released Space Harrier and Super Hang-On as 3D Classics on the Nintendo 3DS handheld, many expected After Burner would be the next title to receive the three dimensional update. Much to our surprise, the original Sega Mega Drive début for Sonic The Hedgehog is next in line, adding depth to the curves of Green Hill Zone.

If the recent news of the Rock 'N' Roll Racing Remake wasn't enough to soothe your arcade racing needs, then you'll be pleased to hear the announcement of another retro revival in the works. The home computer classic, Fire & Forget, which spanned multiple platforms has been resurrected and is due for release later this month.

Last October the controversial racer Carmageddon crashed on to Apple iOS devices, leaving plenty of road kill in its wake. Unfortunately for the patient Android gamers amongst us, we were left waiting at the starting line. While Sega fans may have Streets of Rage, Nintendo gamer's hoping for a good old fashioned street brawl often look towards the timeless River City Ransom (aka Street Gangs). Those who fondly remember this side scroller will be pleased to know that game studio Combit are set to gift the brawler a sequel in the near future.

Flashback HD may well have been the most impressive announcement made by Ubisoft earlier today at Spring 2013 Digital Days, but there was another iconic classic getting the remake treatment that was sadly overshadowed - Jordan Mechner's 1993 cinematic platformer, Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame.
