1985 Alternativo Release Gameplay Trailer For Upcoming Mega Drive Shmup 'Antarex'

Antarex-Mega-Drive-Shmup-Gameplay-TrailerBack in May 2013, homebrew developers 1985 Alternativo announced they were creating a new scrolling shooter for the Mega Drive. After a year and a half's silence, the team has released a stunning new trailer showcasing the fully charged action we'll soon be enjoying in Antarex on Sega's classic console.

Following on from their previous Mega Drive release Oh Mummy, it appears that 1985 Alternativo have learned quite a few new tricks over these passing months. Going by the new gameplay trailer for Antarex, fans of the shmup genre are in for a real treat. Not only does Antarex appear to offer the tried and tested shooter gameplay formula wrapped in stunning visuals, but also the interesting addition of a shop/upgrade mechanic seen around the 1:30 mark in the video.

As great as this all is, 1985 Alternativo are still yet to announce a release date for Antarex and how much a physical cartridge copy will cost. Until then though, feast your eyes on what's looking to be one of the hottest new homebrew releases of 2015.
