While many of us here at RetroCollect are able to showcase a collection hundreds (or maybe even thousands) of retro games, there is one collector out there who happens to have a certificate declaring the largest collection in the world. This accumulation, however, doesn't consist of retro games... it's made up of video game memorabilia and toys.
We've all got our favourite mascot sitting upon our television or even a cuddly plush of Yoshi perched in our chairs, but for Brett Martin, these collectable items make up his entire collection. Having received a 4cm tall figurine of Mario holding a mushroom from his parents at the age of 8, a collection of just about every single toy ever produced for most video game franchises have since decorated Martin's walls.
Clearly his days with Super Mario Bros 3 on the Nintendo NES has had quite the impact on his life. Carefully arranged around his room are over 8,000 toys - Super Mario toys, Zelda collectables, Kirby plushes, Mega Man action figures, and even unfinished factory samples/prototype toys - a total which has since seen Martin receive international recognition from The Guinness Book of Records for owning the 'Largest collection of video game memorabilia'.

Eh, no.
It's a mistake to believe your own inane behaviour is indicative of wider trends.
