Comix Zone - The Soundtrack

Comix_Zone000Want to hear how Comix Zone would've sounded if they made a CD version of it? You've come to the right place! Back in 1995, the unassuming PlayStation-thirsty public were presented with a brand new Mega Drive game called Comix Zone. Great game, if a bit short, but there's been nothing like it since. A fighting game which has the protagonist hopping across the panels of a comic book, with his adversaries being drawn onto the page by a big demonic hand? Intense stuff!

The music in the game's fairly amazingly great as well - so good, that PAL gamers were given a CD soundtrack album thing, tucked away behind the instruction book. That CD rocked like a beast in a chair. The main guy behind the music was a Mr. Howard Drossin, who had previously produced the soundtrack for such Sonic Spinball, and went on to do similar jobs for the likes of The Ooze, Knuckles Chaotix, Die Hard Arcade, Baldur's Gate II and Afro Samurai, as well as a whole bunch of film scores. What a guy!

He had help, of course. No-one can play more than four instruments at the same time, can they? The band he put together was called Roadkill, and this consisted of Howard Drossin and... a few other guys who I can't find any information on. Ah well.

Anyway, it's no good talking about music without letting anyone hear it, so I've made nice little YouTube thingy for you all. Initially I set out to have the music corresponding to the parts in the game it pops up in, but the particular blend of AVI files that CamStudio makes aren't compatible with Windows Movie Maker for some reason, so instead you've got a screenshot of the first level with some cheap special effects over it. Also, due to YouTube restrictions, I've had to upload it in two parts. Silly me. Enjoy it!

Oh, and as always, right after I uploaded this I found out that several other people had already uploaded the same thing, mostly in a better way than I have. Can't blame me for trying, right?
