Chart Singles: #1 "Your Princess Is In another Castle!"

Well back in the early 90's there was a spate of dance tracks based on computer/console game music that were all over the UK charts as the game companies themselves were all jumping on the bandwagon and using the idea to promote their new game releases. Along with these there were several other tracks that were used on advertisements for the consoles which didn't sample any in game music at all but were also released as singles to varing degrees of success, so I'll be taking a look at these too.
Artist: Ambassadors of Funk featuring MC Mario
Title: SuperMarioLand
This was one of the biggest hits for these game/dance cross-overs in the UK charts and was also the first of two tracks that had the envolvement of Simon Harris, the Other being a Street Fighter II track which I'll feature in a later article.
SuperMarioLand samples one of the main level themes from the first Gameboy Super Mario Land game pretty much the entire piece of level music is used mixed in with some original dance track beats and loops and features Einstien on rapping duty as 'MC Mario'. The raps actually more or less follow the generic plot of the Mario platformer games in general rather than centering on the Game it's sampling. "My girl is trapped on the other side of town, So I'm movin' in leaps and bounds, Folks around my way think I'm strange, But there's a villian to blame, Even my ma, she thinks I'm crazy, But I've got to rescue Daisy"
